Owner, 60, killed inside Detroit bar

Detroit police are investigating the death of a 60-year-old bar owner, who died in the bar Saturday night after suffering blunt force trauma to his head.

It was about 8:45 p.m. Saturday when the man was found dead inside the El Capri Lounge, which is on the 1600 block of East Grand Boulevard, just east of Mt. Elliott on the city's east side.

Surveillance video recovered from the bar shows a suspect enter the building, climb over the bar and toward the office where the victim was found. The entry to the bar triggered its alarm, and the owner responded to that alarm.

By the time police reached the victim, he was lying on the ground, dead, though without visible trauma to his head. 

Police also found a hole on the east side of the building that is "consistent with a burglary," said Sgt. Nicole Kirkwood, a Detroit police spokeswoman.

The victim's name is Michael Webb, and per the Wayne County Medical Examiner his cause of death is blunt force trauma and the manner of his death is a homicide.
