Michigan State will have a large group of football recruits on campus Sunday. The recruits will attend the Spartan basketball game against Wisconsin and spend time with the staff.

Currently there are two juniors with offers who are slated to be there -- Dearborn Divine Child quarterback Theo Day and Muskegon offensive tackle Antwan Reed.

Day is coming off an MVP performance at the Best of the Midwest Combine in Indianapolis. An athletic 6-foot-5, 200-pound prospect, he plans to visit the Spartans this weekend, then Boston College, and might make a decision after his basketball season ends in mid-March.

“(MSU) is great,” he said. “They love me up there. The first time I went up there was last spring and we have been building a relationship since then."

Reed is a massive, 6-foot-7, 285-pound prospect who was offered by the Spartans a year and a half ago. He camped at Michigan State last June.

One sophomore who holds an offer that is slated to be in attendance is Olentangy (Ohio) Orange’s Zach Harrison, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound defensive end who could also project to tight end. Harrison has seen a fast rise in his recruitment since the end of fall with Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan offering, along with Michigan State.

In addition, there are quite a few top prospects coming who do not yet hold Michigan State offers, but are Division 1 and Big Ten prospects.

Trieu: New UM commit Aidan Hutchinson plays with 'great intensity'

Chicago Marist defensive tackle Elijah Teague holds offers from Penn State, Minnesota and Tennessee, among others. Oswego (Ill.) defensive tackle Noah Shannon holds offers from Iowa, Missouri and Iowa State. Indianapolis Ben Davis athlete Reese Taylor has been offered by much of the Big Ten including Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin. Defensive back Tyrik Henderson has offers from Illinois and Missouri along with many more. Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Washington offensive lineman Andrew Todd has been offered by Iowa State.

Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn tight end Anthony Torres holds an Indiana offer and has said that a Michigan State offer is one he covets.

From inside the state, Muskegon quarterback La’Darius Jefferson holds offers from Bowling Green, Toledo, Ball State and more. Muskegon Catholic Central’s Cameron Martinez is an athlete (quarterback / wide receiver) who, despite being only a freshman, already has an offer from Central Michigan.

Scates solid to MSU?

While reports surfaced that Michigan State wide receiver commit Joseph Scates may visit Alabama this weekend, the Dayton Dunbar standout told Scout’s Bill Greene at Monday’s Best of the Midwest Combine that he was still committed to the Spartans.

"Other schools are still trying to recruit me, like Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh and Alabama, but I'm still solid to Michigan State," he said. "The program at Michigan State is amazing, and that's where home is for me."

Scates’ teammate, running back Tavion Thomas, who holds a Michigan State offer, will be visiting the Crimson Tide this weekend.
