CB Josiah Scott signs, will enroll early at MSU

While the Michigan State coaching staff continues to try and put the finishing touches on the 2017 recruiting class, the Spartans officially added a new member Monday.

Cornerback Josiah Scott of Fairfield High near Cincinnati signed his Big Ten tender and is set to enroll early at Michigan State in January.

“I feel like it’s the right fit for me and the coaching staff is the perfect fit for me,” Scott told Landof10.com. “The defense also is the perfect scheme for me. They do a lot of press man and man coverage and that fits me perfectly.”

Scott joins four-star wide receiver Hunter Rison of Ann Arbor Skyline and three-star tight end Jack Camper of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, as members of the class that have signed tenders and will enroll in January.

Scott is a three-star prospect who committed to Michigan State in August and took his official visit last weekend. He said Monday that Michigan State’s 3-9 record in 2016 only made him more committed to the Spartans.

“It just affected me by making me want to come in and work even harder,” Scott said. “It didn’t affect me judging Michigan State at all as far as decommitting or anything. I’m 100 percent committed to the coaches and they’re committed to me.”

Scott, Rison and Camper are part of the class that currently has 17 commits that will sign their national letters of intent on Feb. 1, National Signing Day.

Michigan State’s 2017 class is currently ranked No. 18 in the nation by Scout.com while Rivals.com ranks the Spartans at No. 25 and 247sports.com has MSU at No. 26.
