Mitch McGary has been waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the former Michigan star reportedly hopes to continue his basketball career in China or Europe.

McGary, 24, was drafted by the Thunder in the first round, No. 21 overall, in 2014.

He was to be suspended for the first 15 games of this season, for failing to meet guidelines set forth in the NBA’s anti-drug program following his original five-game suspension in July.

McGary played in 32 games as a rookie in 2014-15 and 20 last season as he split time with Oklahoma City and the Developmental League.

After two seasons at Michigan, McGary left for the NBA instead of accepting a one-year suspension after he tested positive for marijuana during an NCAA drug test.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, attributing his information to sources, wrote on Twitter that McGary now plans on playing in China or Europe.
