Defensive end recruit Donovan Jeter this week in explaining his decision to flip his commitment from Notre Dame to Michigan, told his local paper one of the reasons why is Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh “is the coolest dude I ever met in my life.”

Harbaugh was asked about that on the “Jamie and Stoney” show Thursday morning on 97.1 (WXYT-TV), although co-host Mike Stone was careful not to mention the recruit’s name.

“That’s very flattering,” Harbaugh told the show. “Usually, I don’t make a great first impression, but I do grow on people after a while.

“Sometimes you hit it off right off the bat. I’ve made friends right off the bat here lately. It’s been a good feeling. The best kind of love is when you love somebody, and they love you back. That’s truly the best. And maybe the best is love at first sight when you really just hit it off right off the bat, you love somebody and they love you back right away. Right at first sight, maybe that’s the absolute best kind of love.”

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Jeter, a four-star end out of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette this week that Harbaugh is “easy to talk to” and is “real down to earth”.
