Deekah Wyatt

Band leader: This Detroit-based songwriter, singer and guitar player can usually be seen performing with her rock band Roxolydian. Together since 2013, they play a mix of prog-rock, funk and soul. The group, which also features Eric Childress II on drums, Jonathane Leavell on bass and Anter Blackbird on guitar, is on temporary hiatus.

Solo player: This weekend, Wyatt will appear as a solo artist as part of “Music of the Night: A Masquerade Affair.” She’ll be playing classic grunge rock covers and debuting a song from her second solo EP titled “Deekah.” The music-filled evening is Friday at Jazz Cafe at Music Hall, 350 Madison, Detroit. Hosted by Joel Fluent Greene, the evening also includes belly dancer Ms. Chantal, Grammy Award-winning artist J. Ivy, “America’s Got Talent” contestant Travis Pratt and the B. Williams Experiment. Tickets are $20-$30. Call (313) 887-8501 or visit musichall.org for more info.

Teacher: Wyatt says she plans to share her 20 years of guitar playing experience as a teacher when Third Wave Music shop opens in Midtown this fall.
