Allen Park – The Detroit Lions claimed linebacker Jayson DiManche off waivers from Cincinnati. To clear the roster space, the team waived linebacker Dominque Tovell.

Undrafted out of Southern Illinois in 2013, the 6-foot-1, 245-pound DiManche spent two seasons with the Bengals, appearing in 28 game for the franchise. He was initially waived by the organization before the start of the 2015 season following a knee injury.

After bouncing around the league a bit with stints in Kansas City and Cleveland, he wound up back on the Bengals’ practice squad to finish last season.

DiManche gives the Lions some inside linebacker and special teams depth heading into the final preseason game against the Bills Thursday with Josh Bynes not practicing due to injury and Tahir Whitehead unlikely to play much, if at all, in the contest.
