It’s lobster roll week at Mudgie’s

It’s lobster roll week at popular Corktown restaurant Mudgie’s.

Through Sunday, the deli will serve long rolls from Hamtramck’s Golden Wheat bakery stuffed with fresh lobster that is shipped overnight daily from Maine. This keeps in line with the restaurant’s policy to only serve “real food” with no growth hormones or preservatives and as locally-sourced as possible.

Lobster roll week is a popular yearly event at Mudgie’s and the restaurant is expected to run out of sandwiches before closing time on Monday. We’re told that enough lobster has been ordered to satisfy the lines of folks looking for the fresh crustacean treat throughout the week, however.

The sandwiches are $19 and are served with wavy potato chips and a lemon wedge.

A lobster roll brunch is planned for Sunday. Mudgie’s doesn’t do reservations; diners are served on a first come, first served basis.

Mudgie’s, 1300 Porter in Detroit, is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Mon.-Wed., 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Thurs.-Sat. and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sun. The gourmet sandwich shop has a full bar and indoor and outdoor seating.
