House-made pasta, zuppa, pizza, wine, and more Italian favorites are coming to Troy this spring.

Owners of Carntoro Italian Market & Trattoria announced this week that they will open a second restaurant at 1695 E. Big Beaver behind the San Marino Club. This space was formerly occupied by Tre Monti, which shuttered last year.

Cantoro Italian Trattoria, expected to debut in May, will offer a variety of seating including 120 in a main dining area, a 20-seat bar, an outdoor courtyard that seats 80, a 125-seat banquet room, 20-person private dining space and a terrace boardroom for up to 40.

The menu will be similar to the Trattoria in Plymouth, which features antipasti, a vast pasta menu and entrees like Gorgonzola rib eye and osso bucco. The Plymouth location is also a market and there is a market-only Cantoro location in Livonia.

In a press release, Cantoro co-owner John Fallone praised the location of the forthcoming Troy restaurant.

“The location is surrounded by a dense business and residential community that is culturally diverse — including a strong Italian population — who all love great food. Diners will love our brighter, complete redesign and remodel of the space,” he said.

Cantoro Italian Trattoria, which will create around 50 jobs, will serve dinner only to start and expects to add lunch service later in the year. Hours will be 4-10 p.m. Sun.-Thurs. and 4-11 p.m. Fri.-Sat. Visit cantoromarket.com.
