UM officially announced Wayne Lyons' transfer Monday.

Michigan defensive backs coach Mike Zordich essentially confirmed after practice Thursday that the Wolverines will add Stanford graduate transfer cornerback Wayne Lyons to the roster this fall.

The Lyons transfer was speculated last month, and further fueled when his mother, Gwendolyn Bush, was hired by new Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh as the director of player development.

Zordich, who is coaching cornerbacks, spoke to reporters after Thursday's practice and mentioned new additions to the position group that will add depth. He mentioned that Michigan has "a transfer from Stanford coming in." Lyons is 6-foot-1, 193 pounds.

"Wayne was here over the weekend, spent some time with him," Zordich said. "I've watched a lot of film on him. I think he's the right kind of body, a bigger body, kind of like (Wolverine) Channing (Stribling). A lot of length. A pretty good corner. From what I saw with him at Stanford, he did pretty well."
