Body found in burning car on Detroit’s west side

Detroit — A person was found dead in a burning car on the city’s west side on Monday, according to police, who said the injuries appeared to be self-inflicted.

Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody said police are on the scene in the 14200 block of Westbrook, between Acacia and Kendall, north of Schoolcraft Road and Interstate 96.

The passenger side door was open and windshield wipers were on. The fire department has put out the fire.
