Suspect sought in Detroit gas station carjacking

Detroit police are working to find a suspect in a carjacking this week on the city’s north side.

A motorist went into a gas station near East Seven Mile and Conley about 11:38 p.m. Monday when he observed a man “in an older model black Ford Explorer traveling at high rate of speed,” police said in a statement.

The Ford Explorer pulled up as the other driver was leaving his 2009 white Pontiac G6 and entering the gas station.

“The suspect entered the gas station shortly thereafter and pointed a firearm at the victim and took his car keys and personal belongings,” police said. “The suspect then exited the gas station and drove off in the victim’s vehicle followed by the black Ford Explorer.”

The suspect was captured on camera at the station; the Detroit Police Department released images Tuesday night.
