Campus Martius features Michigan vs. MSU field
The big college football rivalry game is not until next week, but downtown Detroit already has a Michigan vs. Michigan State feel to it.
The Touchdown! Detroit 300 Conservancy has transformed the Campus Martius Park lawn into a mini Wolverines vs. Spartans football field. It's in preparation for a "Big Game Detroit Rally" that will take place at Campus Martius next Wednesday.
Wednesday's events begin at 11 a.m. with a pep rally, with cheerleaders and marching bands from Detroit Denby and Detroit Cass Tech high schools. Other highlights are flag football games, and tug-of-war and sack race competitions, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Admission for all events are free. For more information go to downtowndetroitparks.com.
Of course, the main event next week is the game, which begins at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.
