'Paradise' found: Big Sean notches first No. 1 album

Talk about paradise.

Big Sean notches his first No. 1 album on Billboard's Top 200 albums chart with "Dark Sky Paradise," Billboard reported Wednesday morning. In its first week, the set moved 173,000 units, a metric based on album sales, streams and individual track sales. It sold 139,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The Detroit rapper's previous two albums, 2011's "Finally Famous" and 2013's "Hall of Fame," both started off at No. 3 on the chart. "Finally Famous" sold 87,000 copies its first week, while "Hall of Fame" sold 72,000 copies.

"Dark Sky Paradise" leads a Detroit double dip at the top of the chart, as Kid Rock's "First Kiss" launches at No. 2. "First Kiss" opens with 146,000 units based on 137,000 sales. Rock's last album, 2012's "Rebel Soul," debuted at No. 5 with first week sales of 146,000 copies.

Rock has been blocked from the top spot on the albums chart once before. In June 2000, his "History of Rock" compilation debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, behind Eminem's "The Marshall Mathers LP," which was spending its second of eight weeks at No. 1.

Both "Dark Sky Paradise" and "First Kiss" were released Feb. 24.
